WE HAVE all been there — 5 chocolate bunnies, a huge number of little speckled eggs and like hundreds of marshmallow Easter eggs and not to mention all the Hot Cross Buns soaking in butter ... and unfortunately a couple of extra kilos to go with it.
So is there any way you can decrease the extra Easter calories with diet and exercise? These definitely help me!
1) Fasting or dropping heavy meals for a while
More evidence is building to show that regular periods of low calorie eating offer a number of benefits for our metabolic health. It gives your metabolism a boost, to get over the period of overeating. Take a cup of hot water with lemon in the morning, followed by green salad for lunch and lots of water throughout the day. You don’t have to starve yourself, but rather give your body a rest with low calorie salads and some good proteins.
2) Exercise Exercise Exercise!
Aim for at least 10000 steps each day as well as 30-60 minutes of exercise when your heart rate is elevated. Some muscle strength work is important for muscle growth. Increased muscle mass boosts the metabolism. This will help shed the extra kilos quickly.
3) Get rid of the unhealthy treats
Once Easter has come and gone it is time to get the chocolate, puddings, breads, cookies and hotcross buns out of the house, because if they are there, you will eat them. One of the biggest issues when it comes to big celebrations is that the eating goes on for weeks after the actual event.
4) Be creative with healthy foods
Make yourself colourful salads with new herbs and spices, flavour your sparkling water with lemon or berries. Make your healthy foods look desireable and this will make the change of lifestyle and eating habits easier.
