A study looking at a group of people with an average age of 75, found that older adults who regularly do activities such as walking, swimming and dancing had less brain shrinkage compared to a group who were not physically active. It was equal to approximately 4 years less of brain aging in the active group.
They compared the MRI scans of the inactive vs. active older adults and the scans showed that the inactive group had a smaller brain volume when compared to the most active group.
